@anakrutch

A kind corner of the internet where stories about loneliness turned into proof that no one’s really alone.

THE TRUTH

Loneliness doesn’t disappear by ignoring it.

The lasting effect of COVID hadn’t fully worn off. I was isolated, restless, and spiraling — considering becoming an EMT, and then a lawyer, and then a party clown, and then a cruise ship auctioneer. But the truth was simpler: I just wanted to pull the heaviness out of my chest and make it into something that didn’t hurt as much.

THE STORY

So I wrote a story — about Gilbert, a man sitting alone in on a couch. Waiting for time to run out. Beside the dent his late wife had created during all their movie nights together.

His grief mirrored my own, only his had reason.

Overnight, it went viral. So I kept writing. And it just kept going.

THE PROOF

@anakrutch became a kind corner of the internet.

People saved it, shared it, reached out. Teachers wove my work into their curriculum. Strange reached out about breakups, after losses, while starting over — telling me they felt less alone with my words in their pocket.

270K readers emerged. 100M+ views. Partnerships with Interscope, PETA, and BetterHelp — but the real impact was the community.

Stories about loneliness and the end of the world and house flies, reminding us we’re not alone at all.
